REVIEW: Ozzie Rizzo Argan Oil 50ml

I was given this to try by Ozzie and thought to myself not another hair oil, but then I tried it and have fallen in love with Argan Oil all over again.

If you haven’t heard of Ozzie Rizzo here’s a quick background. Ozzie and his two brothers started their hairdressing career at Vidal Sassoon in the glory days and trained alongside Trevor Sorbie and others you’d recognise. Ozzie soon become the youngest Creative Director at Vidal Sassoon at the age of 21 with 60 stylist’s under him.  In the 80’s Ozzie and his brothers founded Sanrizz leaders in the industry with 10 salons and a hairdressing Academy. Ozzie has two stand alone boutique salons called Ozzie Rizzo in Mayfair and Richmond however they are still all part of the Sanrizz group. The brothers are respected in the hair industry and are the guy’s behind the Alternative Hair Show (raising money for leukaemia now in it’s 33rd year)

The Product: The packaging is clean and streamlined, with Ozzie’s logo. It’s in a plastic container with a high quality finish, a silver lid and a good size push down pump applicator. The base of the product has weight to it which means it won’t keep toppling over, nice touch! Also the side of the bottle has a little “window” a bit like an ink pen does, so you can see the amount you have left. All in all my first impressions are good, the packaging is impressive so to me this means quality.

It can be used on damp or dry hair and is a combination of 3 oils that add spectacular shine and smoothness to the hair. It also reduces drying time when applied to towel dried hair.

My Verdict: The smell is sweet which is quite strong luckily it fades when dried into the hair which is great. The consistency is light and not gloopy. I tried it on the back of my hand first. It absorbs into your skin quite quickly leaving your skin feeling smooth without any greasiness-and thought this is going to be amazing in my hair!

Trial One: I applied to towel dried hair, one pump (may need two pumps for long hair) rubbed into the palm of my hands, then I applied to my hair evenly from mid-lengths to ends. Dried my hair as I normally do (get moisture out first then smooth with a denman brush in three sections) My hair did actually dry quicker and was easy to manage, when dry it was looking sleek with no fly-aways, I’m really happy with the results.

Trial Two: This time I applied to clean dry styled hair, again one small pump rubbed into the palms of my hands and applied evenly to my mid lengths and ends, then lightly smoothed my parting (only do this after when you have very little product on your palms) My hair looks very shiny and smooth without weighing it down or looking heavy. The only thing I’m not keen on is the smell.

Summary: This is a nice hair oil, it’s light, versatile and does exactly what it’s mean’t to do. I don’t think I will re-purchase however I had compliments all day at work from my customers noticing I have shiny hair for a blonde!

What hair oils do you use? Would love to hear about them.
