REVIEW: Ozzie Rizzo Argan Oil 50ml

image1 (2)

I was given this to try by Ozzie and thought to myself not another hair oil, but then I tried it and have fallen in love with Argan Oil all over again.

If you haven’t heard of Ozzie Rizzo here’s a quick background. Ozzie and his two brothers started their hairdressing career at Vidal Sassoon in the glory days and trained alongside Trevor Sorbie and others you’d recognise. Ozzie soon become the youngest Creative Director at Vidal Sassoon at the age of 21 with 60 stylist’s under him.  In the 80’s Ozzie and his brothers founded Sanrizz leaders in the industry with 10 salons and a hairdressing Academy. Ozzie has two stand alone boutique salons called Ozzie Rizzo in Mayfair and Richmond however they are still all part of the Sanrizz group. The brothers are respected in the hair industry and are the guy’s behind the Alternative Hair Show (raising money for leukaemia now in it’s 33rd year)

The Product: The packaging is clean and streamlined, with Ozzie’s logo. It’s in a plastic container with a high quality finish, a silver lid and a good size push down pump applicator. The base of the product has weight to it which means it won’t keep toppling over, nice touch! Also the side of the bottle has a little “window” a bit like an ink pen does, so you can see the amount you have left. All in all my first impressions are good, the packaging is impressive so to me this means quality.

It can be used on damp or dry hair and is a combination of 3 oils that add spectacular shine and smoothness to the hair. It also reduces drying time when applied to towel dried hair.

My Verdict: The smell is sweet which is quite strong luckily it fades when dried into the hair which is great. The consistency is light and not gloopy. I tried it on the back of my hand first. It absorbs into your skin quite quickly leaving your skin feeling smooth without any greasiness-and thought this is going to be amazing in my hair!

Trial One: I applied to towel dried hair, one pump (may need two pumps for long hair) rubbed into the palm of my hands, then I applied to my hair evenly from mid-lengths to ends. Dried my hair as I normally do (get moisture out first then smooth with a denman brush in three sections) My hair did actually dry quicker and was easy to manage, when dry it was looking sleek with no fly-aways, I’m really happy with the results.

Trial Two: This time I applied to clean dry styled hair, again one small pump rubbed into the palms of my hands and applied evenly to my mid lengths and ends, then lightly smoothed my parting (only do this after when you have very little product on your palms) My hair looks very shiny and smooth without weighing it down or looking heavy. The only thing I’m not keen on is the smell.

Summary: This is a nice hair oil, it’s light, versatile and does exactly what it’s mean’t to do. I don’t think I will re-purchase however I had compliments all day at work from my customers noticing I have shiny hair for a blonde!

What hair oils do you use? Would love to hear about them.

A little TLC for your hair: Bumble and bumble Hairdresser’s INVISIBLE OIL Shampoo & Conditioner

Bumble and bumble’s Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil shampoo and conditioner are renowned for being lightweight, non-greasy and sulphate free.

I don’t use Bb’s shampoo and conditioner on a regular basis however I absolutely LOVE these for when my hair needs a moisture boost, in particular following a colour session.

To start with they smell absolutely gorgeous and I find them to be highly nourishing without weighing down my fine brittle hair. It must be down to the 6 scrumptious featherlight oils they contain, yes that’s right 6!!! coconut oil, argan oil, macadamia but oil, sweet almond oil, safflower seed oil and grapeseed oil.

After using these my hair always feels soft and nourished without looking greasy. They are great at detangling my comb glides through my wet hair like a hot knife through butter. Hair is at it’s most fragile when wet, it’s easy to cause damage if you are tugging and pulling.

*Top Tip* Shampoo your hair as soon as you step into the shower and apply your conditioner – then proceed to cleanse your body/exfoliate and whatever else it is you do in the shower!

Always make rinsing your hair out to be your last job, this way you’ve given your conditioner time to penetrate and allow the steam of the shower to work it’s magic! If you can bear it finish with a cool rinse to add extra shine to your hair and wake up your skin!

PUREOLOGY® Strength Cure – serious colour care!

Woking in a salon I’m lucky to get the odd freebie from time to time. Last week we were all treated to a Pureology gift bag set for our efforts in selling retail. If I’m honest the gift bag itself isn’t really my thing, but the actual product inside…well let’s just say I’m in LOVE!

IMG_2937.JPGThe smell is gorgeous the colour is a bright pinkish colour. The smallest amount foams up a treat
(I know shampoo doesn’t have to foam to clean the hair but it’s oh so satisfying when it does) it contains antifade complex and treats micro scarred or damaged colour treated hair (my hair is all of the above, so I may of found my match)

IMG_7360.JPGHere’s a clever idea, the lid for the shampoo is at the top of the bottle and the lid for the conditioner is at the bottom of the bottle. So although the bottles are the same shape/colour they are easy to work out while your in the shower and not quite awake yet!

IMG_7359.JPGImpressively these products are 100% vegan and sulphate free. Here’s the science bit…

The shampoo; Gives your hair strength, reduces breakage and brings softness to every hair on your head. It will strengthen the fibre in your hair and remove dull residue.
Featuring Pureology’s Antifadecomplex and Asta-Repair, the Strength Cure rich foam cleanser controls the look of frizz, whilst helping to repair and strengthen micro damaged zones.

The conditioner; Working to detangle, strengthen, and condition it is the ideal product to look after your hair. With its opulent Pureology Antifadecomplex and Asta-repair formula, the conditioning product helps to improve hair’s shine and softness, whilst protecting colour radiance between every wash.
Aiming to improve body, smoothness, and suppleness the conditioner helps repair the micro damaged zones by enveloping strands in a smooth coating of Strength Cure conditioner.

The Verdict
I’m totally sold and would definitely purchase these products, though they are rich and seem like they will last forever they do not weigh down my fine straight over processed blonde hair. They do the opposite and give my hair fullness and bounce with a shine.

My Conclusion
I’ve been using these for one week and yes ok I’ve had a few inches cut off my hair which helps, but I can definitely feel and see an improvement with the condition of my hair which is often ironed flat each morning to remove my crash helmet kinks before I start work.

Anyone else tried any products from the fabulous pureology range?

When Secondblonde met Fudge Violet Toning Shampoo 300ml

I consider myself a lucky girl when I receive products to test. Fudge have been generous enough to send a box of treats for me and my hair team Gro London to try out. So guess which products I’ve got to test…

20140525-135216.jpgFirst up is Fudge Clean Blonde Violet Toning Shampoo (right)

This shampoo promises to cleanse and neutralise unwanted yellow/brassy tones in blonde locks, and leave your hair looking glossy. Fudge have re-vamped their packaging, it’s an easy to use tube meaning no wastage and it will look good in any bathroom.

The science bit:
This unique hydrating hair drink complex with guarana repairs, hydrates, protects, restores and strengthens the hair.

The Test:
I’ve used it once so far (you shouldn’t use violet shampoos every time you wash) The Colour is a rich violet much darker than other violet shampoos. It lathers to a satisfying foam, you can leave it on for 3-5 mins, I choose to massage in and rinse immediately as my hair is already a pale blonde.

The smell is delicious! It’s said that it contains sweet vanilla with hints of apple and pear, but to me the smell reminds me of pink bubblegum! it’s so yummy.

The Results:
My hair colour looks fresh and bright, it feels clean with just the right amount of hydration. It’s easy to comb and style and I’m pleased to say hasn’t gone static. My fine hair is prone to feeling overloaded or lank with other “blonde” products as they always tend to be heavy for my hair type, but not this one, it’s absolutely perfect!

The Conclusion:
All in all I really like everything about this shampoo and would be happy to re-purchase. I will definitely use it once a week to keep my blonde tones looking cool.
