Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm | secondblonde

img_7657

This award-winning cleansing balm is a firm favourite of mine and it’s worth all the hype! If you haven’t indulged in it yet I can assure you that you will not be disappointed.

Emma Hardie is a leading UK therapist (Emma used to attend to client’s based in MichaelJohn salon Mayfair, my husband used to work there) Her products are all made in England and she is a pioneer in natural healing and skin rejuvenation.

I use this cleansing balm for both morning and night. As you massage in the balm melts turning into a lovely oil that feels amazing on your skin, you only need a pea size as a little goes a long way. It breaks down all makeup including mascara and the smell (you know how much I like smells) well let’s just say it’s amazing! The Essential oils of Orange, Neroli and Mandarin are so beautiful and calming.

To remove I always use a clean warm damp flannel. The balm comes with a cleansing cloth which is like a microfibre texture and helps remove dirt from pores. My skin is always very clean and hydrated and very soft after using it.

  • Moringa Cleansing Balm is a balanced daily cleanser that thoroughly cleanse deep in the pores, moisturises and calms all skin types
  • Grape Seed Oil and Sweet Almond Oil rich in essential fatty acids help to plump and soften
  • Moringa seed extract, Wild Sea Fennel and Vitamin E balance, purify and help to minimise the appearance of open pores
  • Essential oils of Orange, Neroli and Mandarin rejuvenate and revitalise the skin whilst calming the senses
  • Jasmine and Rose help to recondition dull, dry, dehydrated and mature skins
  • Removes all traces of face and eye make-up

This cleansing balm delivers on every promise, my skin is always nourished, plump and the appearance of my pores have improved and my skin is much calmer.

What I also really like about this product is that it is muli-use it is so pure it doubles as a soothing and hydrating mask if left on the skin for ten minutes, or you can apply a thin layer to clean skin before bed as an overnight treatment. It also works as a spot treatment as the moringa is a natural antibacterial.

I’m looking forward to using the Brilliance Face Oil sample and the other samples I have to try out. I’ve just discovered that she does a candle too if it’a the same signature smell then I want one!

When it’s so good you get another!

If you are a regular reader of my post’s you will already know how much I love this body cream from Bamford, read full post here. So here I am on my second jar and still madly in love with it for it’s all day hydrating non-greasy texture and most of all it’s beautiful calming scent which I personally find so comforting and relaxing.

If ever I know I will have a busy day ahead after my morning shower I add extra cream to my upper body, neck and back of my ears. This is so when I’m moving around (normally at a pace) I get little bursts of it’s beautiful scent which instantly makes me feel relaxed.

I did mention in my original review that I’d like to try the Geranium, Lavender and Peppermint body cream next. I do in fact have it ready to go however, I couldn’t resist another jar of this first!

Have you tried any of the Bamford bath and body range? I’d love to hear your thoughts and read your reviews. You can buy this beautiful certified organic body cream here. and check out some of thier other wonderful products.

The Day I met Votary Founder Arabella Preston

FullSizeRender (18)

Votary launched last September and lucky me it’s exclusive at work Liberty Beauty Hall

The range is all plant based ingredients, in addition to their performance the smell of each one plays an important part too, it’s a whole experience. The Face Oils have different qualities and effects on the skin but also can be up-lifting or calming, or you can just choose one to suit your mood! The Cleansing oil is rose, geranium and apricot, oh you have to come ad smell this beautiful range in stunning green glass bottles with their rose gold labels just to believe how special they look and feel.

If you follow Caroline Hirons  you are probably familiar with these products, Caroline added the Cleansing Oil to her “most used products of 2015” view here

I haven’t had the chance to try out this fabulous range of face oils, cleansing oil or their newest addition the toning serum yet but they are high on my WISH LIST (full review coming soon)

I did however get to spend the whole day assisting Arabella (founder) at an event at work, she’s so lovely and funny, we did have a little giggle… and of course very knowledgeable about skin care and make-up (we also know a few industry people in common) I felt completely privileged to hear all her skin/make-up tips first hand. Ever since I’m using a little trick she recommended when you “flannel off” your cleanser and I’ve started adding a little eye-liner to my upper lid water line for a subtle look to make your eye’s pop, one of Arabella’s many make-up tips. Her favourite make-up brands include Hourglass, Bobbi Brown, Nars and Mac.

Here’s a pic from Arabella’s instagram the day she was at Liberty, did I mention how pretty she is too, her legs go on for miles, she’s like a model.

Rose, Camomile, Lemon Hand and Body Wash 25oml

The packaging is a plastic recyclable bottle in their signature green colour. It has a delicate fragrance which is surprisingly uplifting and invigorating. As you massage you get to experience all the different layers of this beautifuly soft scent. I can smell the moroccan rose, the camomile, the ylang ylang the blackcurrent and the subtle twist of lemon.

As it’s sulphate/parabens free it doesn’t bubble up like a foam party but give’s a luxurious lather which is just enough to satisfy our obsession with our need for foam to feel clean! (which we all know isn’t true, extra ingredients are added to most drugstore cleansers to give the “foam” effect we all crave)

It leaves my skin feeling fresh, very clean and awake, in fact my skin feels great! It feels soft to touch and slightly scented however, it does feel like it needs a moisturiser.

Rose, Camomile, Lemon Body Cream 200ml

The packaging is a glass recyclable jar in the same green colour which I really like. The texture is deliciously thick like a butter without feeling heavy or greasy. It contains botanical butters and oils such as jojoba, cocoa, shea butter and protective honey.

As I apply it absorbs fairly quickly, it smells the same as the body wash with all the delicate layers of each scent, after a while I feel like I can smell the camomile and subtle lemon the most.

My skin feels so soft and really hydrated with a healthy sheen yet not greasy residue. It feels like I’ve enveloped my skin in pure luxury! And indeed it is, I haven’t used any other body creams which are 95% organic with no artificial colours or fragrance. My skin was hydrated for endless hours. The subtle scent is so nice and has a calming effect on my mind, I can’t get enough of it! I absolutely adore these products and can’t wait to try some of the other’s in the range. I fancy trying the Geranium, Lavender, Peppermint next and the Botanic Sugar Polish.

You can purchase Bamford at Liberty of London Body and Hand Wash £22, Body Cream £35.

Have you tried any of the products from the Bamford range? I would love to hear about them.

Review: Úna Brennan Rose hydrate calming creamy cleanser

Having heard good things about this product line I thought I’d give this cleanser a try. I love a rose smelling product and the words calming and creamy jumped right out at me, oh it sounds and smells perfect…

The formular is deliciously rich and creamy the rose scent is not overpowering I couldn’t wait to start using it. I always use the hot cloth method when I cleanse (thanks Sali Hughes for teaching me this) annoyingly after a few days I noticed my skin around my jawline was rough and itchy and my checks were red and angry and very itchy! I do have sensitive skin so I wasn’t 100% sure this cleanser had caused it. I stopped using it immediately and switched to a basic non-perfume routine for 3 weeks.

Last night I used this Úna Brennan cleanser again just to see and boom! today my cheeks are itchy and red with dry patches.

To conclude this cleanser is a lovely product I wish I could use however it just doesn’t agree with my skin type.

Have any of you guys used any products from this facialist line?

Come Up Smelling of Roses…

I really enjoy sunny afternoon’s or lazy breakfasts in my garden on my days off when the weather is allowing. The sense of freedom and wildlife fluttering around such as birds and butterflies makes you feel like you’re in a fairytale! But my garden doesn’t always smell so sweet to be honest with the likes of next doors smelly drain, unpleasant I know but a reality! This is when I use Muji’s essential oils in my garden…

A few drops of this Rose Oil in my electric aroma diffuser fills the air with the romantic aroma of fresh garden roses. Rose oil is widely used in aromatherapy and invokes positive thoughts, spiritual relaxation and feelings of joy, happiness and hope.

Most people buy these diffuser’s for indoor use as that’s what they’ve been designed for, however I find them a bit heavy for indoor and prefer them for outdoor use. (Indoor I use candles for filling my home with beautiful aroma’s) The diffuser uses ultrasonic waves to vaporise water and the essential oil in the tank to produce a cool, dry, fragrant mist. It also houses a lamp that shines with an ambient glow. It costs £45 and the oils are £3.95 take a look here muji online.

There are various oils to purchase from Muji, I find some of them pleasently authentic and some to smell a bit plasticy or like toilet cleaner! The Rose is my favourite as it actually smells like roses and isn’t too over powering.

So next time you are relaxing in your garden plug one in and enjoy the fragrant mist to enhance your mood or help you relax. I promise you will love it!

Lip Therapy

The original Vaseline® petroleum jelly has been around for 140, we are all familiar with this skin heeling/beauty regime multi-use product. Famously Marilyn Monroe used to layer it on her face to keep wrinkles at bay, today makeup artists use it for a dewy look under makeup. My Nan Gladys was a very glamorous lady and used it in a number of ways in her beauty regime, but one that I remember was her advice of rubbing in some vaseline on my new school shoes to stop them cracking, it worked!

These days these little trusty tins for lips are always knocking around in my make-up drawer.

20130803-133739.jpg They come in original, aloe Vera, rose, cocoa butter, SPF 15 not to mention the limited addition’s. Over the years i think I’ve tried them all. I’m not too mad about the limited editions but with their inviting flavors and designs I often can’t resist as they look good enough to eat!

20130803-134426.jpg I really like the rosy lips for my lips on a non-lipstick day as it has a subtle tint that gives a big of life to my natural lip colour.

20130803-134742.jpg The rose and almond oil is also subtle and not over powering.
20130803-135550.jpgThe creme brûlée is a little too perfumed and synthetic for my liking so I tend to use this for small skin areas like cuticles or dry patches on my and or arms. It’s great for pre-tanning by applying a thin layer to your ankles, knees, elbows, between your fingers!

These little pots won’t rehydrate or cure chapped skin/lips but they are soothing and help prevention particularly against the elements.

Lola by Marc Jacobs

My first bottle was passed to me in 2009 as a gift from a work colleague who’d created hair for NY shows for Marc Jacobs. This perfume was described as Daisy’s vampy older sister!

20130620-230105.jpgUnsure at first but after a few tries I fell for it’s rose, floral, sweet, fresh, vanilla, creamy musk.

20130620-230319.jpgIt opens with pink pepper, pear, ruby red grapefruit with a punch, then mellows to the heart of the scent with peony, rose, geranium, vanilla, creamy musk.

20130620-230654.jpgCreated by Calice Becker and Yann Vasnier and with Karlie Kloss as the face of, it was bound to be a winner.

20130620-230929.jpg
I’m on my forth bottle now so I guess it’s kinda become my signature scent by accident. It’s not to everyone’s taste neither is the design but I love the changes this perfume has as you wear it and think it looks quite pretty on my dressing table.

20130620-231404.jpgAnyone tried the more recent Oh Lola perfume?
