Ciaté London Creme Nail Polish in shade Fade to Greige | secondblonde

IMG_1511.JPG

Fade to Greige by Ciaté London is a colour that I wouldn’t normally go for, it arrived in my September Glossy Box. That’s one of the reasons I love a beauty box as it introduces me to new colours/ways of beauty – seeing as I’m a creature of habit it’s easy for me to stay in my comfort zone.

Ciaté London is a luxury make-up brand that’s won an impressive 24 awards, I best know them for their pretty looking polishes however this is the first time I’ve tried one.

The bottle is a flat shape which is really comfortable to hold (or if like me hold between your knees on your lap while painting your nails in from of the TV) It’s also very pretty looking with their trademark black bow. I love that it’s really instagramable and practical at the same time. The lid is nice and long providing a great tool for effortless easy strokes every time. The brush bristles are flat which I found very easy to use and hands down the quickest application ever! I’m very impressed!!

The formula is a great consistency gliding on evenly it’s so pigmented I was almost tempted to do just one coat. I ended up doing two for perfection. The colour is hard to capture in a photo as it looks so different in different lighting. The best way to describe it is a violet greyish/brown nude. It’s very flattering on my skin tone I should imagine it will suit all. It’s long wearing as it lasted for 6 full days without wearing off or chipping, only on day 7 it started to wear off the tips.

Ok my paint job isn’t the best I know but I’m giving this polish a big thumbs up and the colour is a great addition to my nail polish collection. You can check out Ciaté London here this full size nail polish is £9 from the creme collection.

Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy (longwear nail enamel)

FullSizeRender (16)

This revlon nail polish has been knocking around in my nail polish drawer for yonks! I was given it as a PR sample and as much as I appreciated it, it wasn’t my normal choice of colour as it’s a strong teal with a slight shimmer of silver gliter. I forgot about it until today…

It’s mani monday and it’s freezing cold outside, while I take off my berry coloured polish I delve around in my drawer for a colour I’ve not worn in a while when I spot this again.

It’s a longwear polish (will report back on that later in the week) which mimic’s the coverage and pigmentation of a gel polish. It’s quite thick however really easy to apply. The brush is wide and flat which I thought would be tricky to get my polish to the sides but it was actually easier. The two coats of polish went on evenly, I would even go as far to say the applicaion almost looks professional.

I’m really impressed with the results and will have a look at other shades in the range. I haven’t bought a revlon polish since the early 1990’s if I’m honest, the last one I got was Revlon Nail Enamel in Pink Nude (still available) which was the Essie Sugar Daddy of it’s time.

FullSizeRender (17)

It states that you do not need a base coat however I still used one because the colour of the polish is so dark. I finished with a top coat (not pictured) and massaged cuticle oil on my cuticles.

I’m surprised how much I like this colour, it suits my skin tone and is really fresh after all the christmay red shades. The subtle metallic glitter in it is also quite nice giving it added sparkle if you look really closely. I hate shimmery polishes and love glitter but find glitter polishes are a bummer to remove so this is a perfect compromise.

Have you used any of Revlon’s Colorstay Gel Envy nail polishes? I would love to hear about them and your experiences.

IMG_8844-2.JPGTarting up your nails before a night out doesn’t need to take long and will make the world of difference to your look.

1. Even out ridges with a 4 way buffer, this makes for a speedy application and evens out nails for smooth results.

2. Skip the base coat (just for speed) paint your first coat of polish, I start in the middle with a long downward stroke and then the sides (going as close as possible to the edges)

3. Paint the second coat of polish taking care not go over the edges using the same technique as before. *TIP don’t overload the brush, wipe excess off on the bottle neck, otherwise you risk an uneven finish*

4. Finish with a generous coat of good quality top coat, this speeds up drying time, prevents chips and gives the nail a glossy finish.

5. Last but not least! Massage cuticle oil in your cuticles for a professional finish, no paint job will ever look good with dry cuticles!

Nailing it with Jessica “Sexy Siren”

So this is the first time I’m trying a Jessica polish…I know right! I was given a mini sized bottle in a good bag last winter and it’s been knocking around at the back of my nail polish drawer. Time to give it a whirl…jessica nail polish 1

(excuse the paint job, i’m no pro! just enjoy painting my nails and sharing with you)

The brush size is perfect for applying even strokes, the colour glided on effortlessly. Two coats gave a lovely colour appearing slightly lighter than the liquid in the bottle. It’s got a raspberry hue to it which I quite like for a change. (normally I go for a darker shade)

jessica nail polish 2I prepared my nails with one coat of Essie’s Fill the Gap, to fill in a few fine lines I have on some of my nails. Followed by two coats of Jessica Sexy Siren, I do one stroke down the centre of my nail and two strokes either side.

*Top Tip* get as close to the sides as possible for a professional looking paint job!

I brushed on a generous lick of Intensae Crystalline Top Coat. To finish I sweep Barielle Advanced Pro Cuticle Oil over my dry cuticles giving the appearance of healthy nourished nails.

Golden Rose Paris Nail Lacquer in Neon Pink

It’s day1 inTürkiye at “Azda”our local supermarket while loading our trolley full of wholesome foods and naughty delights I came across a bargain bucket of beauty finds near the tills. What caught my eye were little bottles of bright pops of coloured nail varnish, a brand unknown to me but looked appealing all the same.

And I’m on holiday the rules are different aren’t they?

20140723-175903-64743913.jpg(image taken when I got home)

I couldn’t resist and dropped a neon pink into my trolley knowing it will compliment my tan (once I got one which I intended on asap)

20140723-180212-64932649.jpgGolden Rose nail lacquer cost only 2 Turkish lira (about 57 pence!!!!)

It glided on smooth and even, two coats for the perfect colour. The bottle is a nice shape with the applicator easy to hold/use. The brush is slim and doesn’t overload with polish. It dried quickly with a gloss and I liked the fact it’s slightly sheer. I didn’t have a topcoat with me so am impressed with it’s staying power.

20140723-180447-65087811.jpg(image taken after 9 days wear)

Day 9 and no sign of chipping or fading and that’s with a few chores around our villa and of course days out/nights out/shopping trips and swimming in our pool plus a few long days at the beach! It’s only just started to wear off the tips.

The colour looks even better now my hands are a shade of golden brown. I think I will re-apply when I get back home as my summer hue, this time with a topcoat for extra gloss. My toes have one of my old favourites Essie’s bachelorette bash, but I’m thinking about changing them to my new love for pink neon pronto!

20140723-180908-65348793.jpgI wish I went back for more colours, there was an appealing jade green and a cool cornflower blue…oh well there’s always next time!

Berry go Round

Barielle’s Berry go Round is a perfect shade of coral for hazy summer days.

20130810-132957.jpg
A quick file and shape to tidy up, I prefer my nail shape to be natural. Paint two coats and apply a top coat and cuticle oil for the perfect DIY mani.

20130123-220305.jpg

Needed to cheer up this dreary grey post snow mid week day, hmmmm…… new nail colour!
Ooh to the shops for a quick cheap n cheerful fix!

Collection’s New 2 in 1 base coat with ridge filler £2.99
Hot Looks 60seconds in Bright Lights £1.99

20130123-220408.jpg

All in all a great buy, I love the punchy colours available and this coral colour is perfect.
The only downside is the quality of the brush of the polish, it’s also far too wide. But, I wouldn’t expect too much for £1.9920130123-220540.jpgFINAL RESULT!
