IMG_8844-2.JPGTarting up your nails before a night out doesn’t need to take long and will make the world of difference to your look.

1. Even out ridges with a 4 way buffer, this makes for a speedy application and evens out nails for smooth results.

2. Skip the base coat (just for speed) paint your first coat of polish, I start in the middle with a long downward stroke and then the sides (going as close as possible to the edges)

3. Paint the second coat of polish taking care not go over the edges using the same technique as before. *TIP don’t overload the brush, wipe excess off on the bottle neck, otherwise you risk an uneven finish*

4. Finish with a generous coat of good quality top coat, this speeds up drying time, prevents chips and gives the nail a glossy finish.

5. Last but not least! Massage cuticle oil in your cuticles for a professional finish, no paint job will ever look good with dry cuticles!

Nailing it with Jessica “Sexy Siren”

So this is the first time I’m trying a Jessica polish…I know right! I was given a mini sized bottle in a good bag last winter and it’s been knocking around at the back of my nail polish drawer. Time to give it a whirl…jessica nail polish 1

(excuse the paint job, i’m no pro! just enjoy painting my nails and sharing with you)

The brush size is perfect for applying even strokes, the colour glided on effortlessly. Two coats gave a lovely colour appearing slightly lighter than the liquid in the bottle. It’s got a raspberry hue to it which I quite like for a change. (normally I go for a darker shade)

jessica nail polish 2I prepared my nails with one coat of Essie’s Fill the Gap, to fill in a few fine lines I have on some of my nails. Followed by two coats of Jessica Sexy Siren, I do one stroke down the centre of my nail and two strokes either side.

*Top Tip* get as close to the sides as possible for a professional looking paint job!

I brushed on a generous lick of Intensae Crystalline Top Coat. To finish I sweep Barielle Advanced Pro Cuticle Oil over my dry cuticles giving the appearance of healthy nourished nails.

Golden Rose Paris Nail Lacquer in Neon Pink

It’s day1 inTürkiye at “Azda”our local supermarket while loading our trolley full of wholesome foods and naughty delights I came across a bargain bucket of beauty finds near the tills. What caught my eye were little bottles of bright pops of coloured nail varnish, a brand unknown to me but looked appealing all the same.

And I’m on holiday the rules are different aren’t they?

20140723-175903-64743913.jpg(image taken when I got home)

I couldn’t resist and dropped a neon pink into my trolley knowing it will compliment my tan (once I got one which I intended on asap)

20140723-180212-64932649.jpgGolden Rose nail lacquer cost only 2 Turkish lira (about 57 pence!!!!)

It glided on smooth and even, two coats for the perfect colour. The bottle is a nice shape with the applicator easy to hold/use. The brush is slim and doesn’t overload with polish. It dried quickly with a gloss and I liked the fact it’s slightly sheer. I didn’t have a topcoat with me so am impressed with it’s staying power.

20140723-180447-65087811.jpg(image taken after 9 days wear)

Day 9 and no sign of chipping or fading and that’s with a few chores around our villa and of course days out/nights out/shopping trips and swimming in our pool plus a few long days at the beach! It’s only just started to wear off the tips.

The colour looks even better now my hands are a shade of golden brown. I think I will re-apply when I get back home as my summer hue, this time with a topcoat for extra gloss. My toes have one of my old favourites Essie’s bachelorette bash, but I’m thinking about changing them to my new love for pink neon pronto!

20140723-180908-65348793.jpgI wish I went back for more colours, there was an appealing jade green and a cool cornflower blue…oh well there’s always next time!

INTENSAE SS14 Dreamy Blue

It’s a Wednesday afternoon I’m on my way to the sorting office to pick up a package. It’s arrived from Germany, filled with excitement I ferry it home on the passenger seat of my car…I think I know what it is!

20140226-104115.jpg
As soon as I arrive home I tear open the package…ta dah! As suspected I’ve been spoilt rotten by the cool guys at INTENSAE I’m now the proud owner of their brand spanking new SS14 nail lacquer range.

20140226-104557.jpgFrom left to right: Emmeline, Ophelie, Mars, Matt top coat, Crystalline top coat.

20140226-105024.jpgI’m in the mood for a dreamy cool blue, so I opt for Emmeline.

20140226-105144.jpgThe lid is wider than I’m normally used to but actually feels very comfortable to hold and keep a steady hand. Two coats glide on with ease leaving a smooth glass like finish.

20140226-105413.jpgI’m no pro when it comes to painting my nails (it took me 5 minutes to paint two coats) INTENSAE lacquer made it so easy, my nails were touch dry in minutes – I’m so impressed with their performance this certainly is a luxurious brand, you will not be disappointed!

20140226-105807.jpgI finished with the Crystalline top coat to lock in the colour keeping it chip free for 10 days. I should add that the formulars are flexible once dry, so if your nail bends your polish won’t chip off as it will bend with your nail, genius! I can’t wait to try the other shades and the high performance Matt top coat. There are 24 shades (I think) in the full collection and counting!

The science bit:
Cruelty Free: No animal testing.
5 – Free which are: formaldehyde, toluene, dibutyl phthalate, parabens, formaldehyde resin.

Summer in a Bottle

20130629-174317.jpgBarielle’s story began 30 years ago when husband and wife duo devised a breakthrough formulation to condition the hooves of their million-dollar thoroughbred racehorses. A few weeks went by when they had realised that they had discovered that they had also created a million-dollar product for nails—one that would quickly become an integral element in the modern manicure and pedicure. The cream, which strengthened their horses’ hooves to resist splits and cracks, had the same effect on the nails of the jockeys that applied it. Reformulated for women and men, the miracle product “Nail Strengthener Cream” was born and Barielle was founded.

20130629-175036.jpgStaying true to their origins while remaining on the forefront of cutting-edge formulations and industry trends,
renowned for their nail, hand, foot and skin care BARIELLE released their nail shades range in 2005 with over 75 shades and over 20 cute nail sets with fashion forward hues added each season using cutting edge formula’s to keep up to speed with new trends.

20130629-175830.jpg I’m using “Ocean Breeze” from my Popsicle Summer Fun pack, the colours are so nice it’s hard to choose one. This set contains:
Ocean Breeze
Berry Go Round
Mint Ice Cream Cone
Peach Popsicle
Pink Flip-Flops

20130629-180611.jpg The bottle is the perfect size to handle, the brush is long, the lacquer glides on with even coverage with no streaks even with one coat! I’ve painted 2 Coates and applied seche vite top coat and CND solar oil to my cuticles.

20130629-180938.jpg What do you think of the results? I’m really in love with this colour, it looks great against my skin tone and looks good against my rose gold watch.
