Find Out Why Davines Aftersun SU/Hair Mask will see me into the winter months | secondblonde

Summer may be well and truly over. British Summer Time has officially come to an end with the clocks going back yesterday giving us an extra hour in bed! However this SU/Hair Mask by Davines just keeps on giving…

It’s an aftersun mask that doubles up as an anti-ageing treatment for all hair types, win win. It replaces moisture and leaves your hair soft and shiny. The smell is a floral, fruity, woody fragrance which is very lovely – to me it smells like sweets. Apply to your hair after shampooing, it’s light enough to use from roots to tips if you wish. It will do it’s stuff between 5-15 minutes depending on your hair needs. I pretty much use mine on a regular basis and only need to leave it on 5 mins in the shower while I cleanse my face and wash my body.

SU/hair mask contain natural active ingredients: Chinotto (from Savona) anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory action and Shea Butter for a nourishing effect.

You may be wondering what anti-ageing has got to do with hair care? Well when your hair is longer it means it’s older hair, so most of us that have medium or long hair have hair that’s a few years old – therefore it needs a lot more nourishment to keep it manageable and healthy looking just like skin does.

Summary I love this mask as it’s quick and easy to use in the toothpaste style packaging, it’s very nourishing but also very light so it  doesn’t weigh down my fine hair yet moisturising enough to prevent my hair getting static and flyaway. I started using it at the end of August and still have loads left. It’s a great product that will probably see me through to the end of the year and really good value at £19.30 for 150ml here

Hope you’ve enjoyed this post.

Percy & Reed Volumising No Oil Oil 30ml

A sample of Percy & Reed Volumising No Oil Oil arrived with Elle Magazine June edition. I do love a tester that’s worth testing…hopefully this is one of them.

IMG_9409.JPGThe Promise:
A lifesaver for fine/limp hair types leaving your hair smooth, sleek and shiny while adding volume.

The science Bit:
Contains violet extract which is nourishing/repairing plus added pro vitamin B5 which helps strengthen your hair and protect it from heat damage.

My Verdict:
I’m intrigued, an oil that’s not oily? Well the consistency looks/feels like water and when rubbed onto the back of my hand it’s clear and non sticky and quickly kind of evaporates! Now I’n definitely excited to try it out on my fine flat hair. The smell is like that of old lady talk (sorry guys! I usually love flowery smells) luckily once dry in your hair you don’t smell it anymore.

Two pumps applied on damp clean hair from root to tip, then I styled as normal. Wow! I can see the results instantly. My hair is noticeably shiny and bouncy and very bright and sparkly looking. It’s by no means weighed down and had managed to tame my flyaways. It feels like I don’t have any product in my hair which is a big YES FAT for me.

I’m pleasantly surprised how much I really like this product, it suits my hair type well and is so easy to use.

Thanks for the freebie ELLE magazine! Hurry if you wanna get yours, it’s the UK June Edition.

Have you tried it yet? Or have any other Percy & Reed products become your staple hair products, I’d love to hear from you.

Supershine, yes please Mr Oribe!

I’ve just discovered a new love in the hair world after being given a tester of a fabulous hair product from Oribe called “Supershine Light Moisturizing Cream” a hair cream I hear you say, I too never thought hair creams were any good for my fine fluffy locks until I tried this.

20140326-173351.jpgIt’s a super light weightless leave-in conditioning cream which softens, adds shine and also doubles up as a heat protector and doesn’t weigh your hair down. Applying a small amount to towel dryed hair, combing through mid lengths to ends evenly then styling in your normal way.

It’s a white cream that smells kinda floral/citrus and feels silky to the touch. As all Oribe products it looks/feels/gives luxurious results. I like it as it’s light enough for fine hair but still delivers noticeable shine reforming dull over processed (fried) hair!

The science Bit:
Contains Soy Protein Biopolymer (anti frizz it you and I)
Edelweiss Flower ( helps prevent damage)
Keratin and Amber Extracts (strength and condition)

All in all it’s a thumbs and and could quite possibly be my new hair care best friend! Oribe products are height end luxury so expect the prices to reflect that quality, trust me you will not be disappointed and their packaging is so lush it will look super chic on your dressing table or bathroom shelf!
